Space Exploration Blog

Space exploration has always been one of the biggest dreams of humanity. And over the years, from being a dream, it has become a quest, then a reality. In the past decades, space exploration has developed by leaps and bounds with countless technologies and innovations emerging to help humans reach the stars. And via this site, college student Alexis Fecteau plans to share some of his research on space exploration.

Through the advancement of astronomical studies and space technology, humans have sent first objects to outer space, followed by satellites, and finally, people.  And with the improvement of many telescopic devices, officers, scientists, and researchers from NASA, the Air Force, and countless other facilities all over the globe were able to study space and plot out courses outside of planet Earth.

From the first satellite to Neil Armstrong landing on the moon to the building of the International Space Station and the Mars rover, it seems that humanity will continue forth with its adventure toward the great unknown, which is what Alexis Fecteau is hoping for.

While there has been controversy surrounding man’s quest to travel the stars, such as the “Space Race” between the Soviet Union and the U.S. and the anti-science fanatics, all these have done very little to dissuade man’s collective efforts to further space exploration.  Alexis Fecteau believes that even if space exploration paints quite a dangerous picture to many people, some brave souls are determined to test their limits and reach out into the infinite black.

Today, projects such as Elon Musk’s SpaceX program, a long-term plan to colonize Mars, and Virgin’s plans for the first space tourism keep the flame of space exploration alive.  With countries such as Japan, India, China, Russia, and the European Union planning manned missions to both the moon and Mars in the following decades, space exploration will keep on going.

Along with man’s love for space exploration, it’s only natural that one of the most popular genres of entertainment has been science fiction.  In fact, sci-fi flicks have been Alexis Fecteau’s favorites.  In the early 20th century, Orson Welles’ radio play “War of the Worlds” was among the first high-profile sci-fi dramas that depicted man’s recognition of something or someone out there.

Over the years, highly-acclaimed filmmakers such as Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, George Lucas, the Wachowskis, and more have come up with their take on space exploration, much to the delight of sci-fi and space exploration fans such as Alexis Fecteau.
